People tend to watch videos to the end that are 15 seconds or less. In this case, GIFs are more attractive than images, and they are shared more than JPEG or PNG formats. We don't have to tiptoe around it - social media marketing can be needlessly time consuming, and Instagram is a prime culprit. It takes a lot of time to take great photos, edit them, and craft clever captions. Save the time you do have left over by using a scheduling app like Later or Buffer to plan out your Instagram posts days (or weeks, or months) in advance.
The hope with your brand developed content is to not only drive users to share but to also encourage users to create their own. If you’ve got a way with words and expertise in a niche, there are plenty of sites that will pay for articles and content you write. Think of the sites you read regularly. What can you contribute to them that would be interesting? Research your niche and then look for ways to pitch articles. Many sites will simply have a submission or contact link in the footer. In your bio, include the link into of a landing page that will help increase conversions, promote your e-commerce site, etc. If you want to add any hashtags “#” or profile usernames “@” to your bio, they will become clickable. For example, you can use a personal profile to promote your business profile on Instagram, or just let others know where you work by sharing your company’s username.
Equally, you can charge businesses to ‘claim’ their listing, a method used by many large directory sites like Google Business and Yelp. This involves companies paying to upgrade their listing and adding information such as their web address, social media links, images, and more. Other revenue streams include charging for ad space, adding affiliate links and even charging for services and products on your directory site.
Take the time to browse through your brand’s audience. Look at what their interests are, what types of brand posts they respond to and what really gets them involved. Take a few notes and generate a few posts that resonate with specific groups, leading to more followers, in your audience. The more you engage with them, the better your online reputation as a brand is.
Compared to videos and photos, Instagram Stories require more active engagement by users. A user must tap into your business’ story at the top of the feed to engage with the content and from here they can watch it in full, tap through, or swipe out of Stories completely. So in addition to impressions and reach, you can also uncover your Stories’ exits and replies.
You might think is a no-brainer, but you'd be surprised! If your posts get hundreds or thousands of comments, this strategy is less feasible - but for a small business looking to grow its following and get more customers, responding to every (real) comment you get is an awesome way to build personal relationships with both potential and existing customers.

Start with word of mouth recommendations from friends who know they can count on you for the cheapest flights, and then move on and create a Facebook or LinkedIn group to invite people who want to stay on top of the latest deals. Using Instagram for marketing can be tough because you only have one link. That just means you have to use that one link creatively for marketing your business. Don’t use the homepage of your website for your one link; use something specifically created for Instagram. To maximize the use of the one link you get on Instagram, make sure the page you link to is optimized for relevant content to your Instagram feed and description. Don’t simply put in your website home page but rather a relevant page that ties into the content you share on Instagram. If you share pictures of your product in different situations, make sure you’re linking to a page where people can immediately find that product. The more closely the content of the page of your one link is related to the content of your Instagram profile the more effective it will be.
Skip the automation tools. Growing your follower base on Instagram isn’t just about making that number larger, it’s about creating group in followers to interact with. Dedicate the time to going out and finding users that are interested in hashtags representative of your business. Click on their profile and like some of their photos and follow them first. The goal should be quality followers not just quantity!
